Our Businesses & Organizations

From its beginnings in 1985, Qualcomm has grown from seven individuals meeting in a den to a world-leading provider of wireless technology and services. Qualcomm is a global company, a firm with many facets, with each business division changing the way we live and work through its own unique contributions. But no matter what each Qualcomm business does, all are united by a single, driving passion: to continue to deliver the world’s most innovative wireless solutions.

Our Businesses

Qualcomm CDMA Technologies

Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) is the world's largest fabless semiconductor producer and the largest provider of wireless chipset and software technology, which powers the majority of all 3G devices commercially available today. We are redefining the experience of wireless mobility by applying our unmatched legacy of wireless innovation to enable new generations of increasingly powerful mobile handsets, computers and consumer electronics devices. As a result, 3G wireless connectivity is being extended into an ever-wider range of products and services.

Qualcomm Enterprise Services

Formerly Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions, Qualcomm Enterprise Services (QES) provides integrated wireless systems and services to businesses around the world. QES delivers the actionable information businesses seek in order to operate at peak performance and improve the quality of life for its customers, their employees and the entire value chain. Qualcomm’s world-class technology infrastructure, customer care and professional services enable QES to meet the increasingly complex needs of industries such as mobile enterprise, transportation and logistics, construction equipment, manufacturing and healthcare.

Qualcomm Internet Services

Creating Total Mobile Experiences

Today´s mobile consumers demand a diverse yet more personalized array of content delivered in an engaging, user-friendly experience.

But device fragmentation and rising costs have prevented operators, content providers, developers and device manufacturers from delivering what their customers want.

It´s time for a new approach.

Qualcomm MediaFLO Technologies

The MediaFLO Technologies division is comprised of the FLO Technology group, which is developing the MediaFLO™ MDS and MediaFLO™ technology, and the FLO International group, which markets MediaFLO for deployment outside of the United States. The MediaFLO platform enables the broadcast delivery of high-quality mobile entertainment and information to the mass market. In addition to live mobile TV, the MediaFLO platform supports enhanced mobile broadcast services such as streaming video and audio, file delivery services, IP data services, interactive applications and targeted advertising – providing a compelling mobile media experience while enabling profitable business models. Invented for mobility and complementary to 3G and Wi-Fi® services, the MediaFLO platform is designed to increase capacity and coverage and reduce costs for multimedia content delivery to unlimited mobile devices simultaneously. The MediaFLO platform is based on the FLO® Air Interface, an open standard recognized by ETSI, ITU-R and TIA.

Qualcomm MEMS Technologies

Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc. has developed the industry's first color micro electrical/mechanical systems (MEMS) display for mobile devices—a true technological innovation that offers low power consumption and superb viewing quality in a wide range of environmental conditions, including bright sunlight. The displays work by reflecting light where specific wavelengths interfere with one another to create color. The phenomenon that makes a butterfly's wings shimmer, Interferometric modulation (IMOD), is the same process used in mirasol displays. Qualcomm's mirasol displays require no backlighting and therefore consume significantly less power than standard displays in portable devices.

Qualcomm Technology Licensing

Grants licenses to use Qualcomm's intellectual property portfolio, which includes certain patent rights essential to or useful in the manufacturing of CDMA-based products.

Qualcomm Ventures

Supports Qualcomm's mission of enabling and fostering CDMA and wireless Internet markets through strategic investments in privately-owned startup ventures.
