Roberto di Pietro joined Qualcomm CDMA Technologies in March 2008 as vice president of business development. In this role Roberto is responsible of Qualcomm’s business development strategy for Western European operators.
Prior to this appointment, Roberto worked for Hutchison Whampoa, as director and general manager of the 3G Handset Group. Roberto played a key role in 3's successful global 3G launch, including bringing the first 3G handset to the European market. Roberto was also one of the core executives overseeing the 3 Group's global handset organization, including responsibilities for the technical development, roadmap, procurement, testing and deployment of H3G S.p.A. Roberto was also part of the GSMA Executive Management Committee (EMC).
Before joining 3, Roberto worked with Telecom Italia and then Wind, where his responsibilities included network rollout and network management. Through these various executive positions, Roberto has gained invaluable hands-on experience of both technical and commercial issues relating to the handset and network elements of the telecoms business.
Roberto has a master’s degree in Telecommunication engineering from the University of Rome.
